कोणत्याही एका वस्तू पदार्थ व्यक्ती किंवा घटक यास ओळख म्हणून दिलेल्या विकारी नावास नाम असे म्हणतात.
नामाचे मुख्य तीन प्रकार पडतात. सामान्य नाम विशेष नाम आणि भाववाचक नाम.

Noun and its types

Noun is a noun given to identify any thing, substance, person or entity.
There are three main types of names. Common Nouns Special Nouns and Affective Nouns.

सामान्य नाम : Naam in Marathi grammar

सामान्य नाम : एकाच घटकातील प्रत्येक वस्तूला गुणधर्म समान असल्यामुळे एकच नाव दिले जाते त्यास सामान्य नाम असे म्हणतात.
(उदा. पक्षी, प्राणी पर्वत, घड्याळ.)

• सामान्य नामाचे दोन प्रकार पडतात
• पदार्थवाचक नाम
• समूहवाचक नाम

Common Noun : Every object of the same entity is given a single Noun because it has the same properties, it is called a common Noun .
E.g. Birds, animals, mountains, clocks.

• There are two types of common Noun
• substantive noun
• collective noun

विशेष नाम (Naam in Marathi grammar)

विशेष नाम :

• एखाद्या नामा मधून एखाद्या विशिष्ट वस्तूचा प्राणीचा किंवा व्यक्तीचा बोध होत असेल तर त्यास विशेष नाम असे म्हणतात. (उदा. विवेक, प्रमोद आणि कार्तिक.)
• काही वेळेस वाक्यामध्ये विशेष नाम हे सामान्य नाम म्हणून वापरले जाते परंतु ते मूळचे विशेष नामच असते. (उदा. तुमचा मुलगा कुंभकर्ण दिसतो.)

Special Noun :

• If a Noun refers to a particular thing, animal or person, then it is called a special Noun .
  (E.g. Vivek, Pramod and Karthik.)
• Sometimes a proper noun is used as a common noun in a sentence but it is originally a proper noun. (E.g. Your son appears as Kumbhakarna.)

Naam in Marathi grammar | भाववाचक नाम 

भाववाचक नाम : यालाच धर्मवाचक नाम असेही म्हणतात. एखाद्या वस्तू किंवा प्राणी याच्यामध्ये असलेला गुण किंवा भाव यांचा बोध ज्या नामातून होतो त्यास भाववाचक नाम असे म्हणतात. किंवा (त्या घटकास स्पर्श करू शकत नाही पाहू शकत नाही किंवा त्याची चव घेऊ शकत नाही परंतु कल्पनेने मांडलेल्या गुणास, अवस्थेला किंवा कृतीस भाववाचक नाम असे म्हणतात.)

Bhavavachaka Noun : This is also known as Dharmavachaka Naam. A noun that refers to a quality or emotion in an object or animal is called an emotive noun. (That element cannot be touched nor seen nor tasted but the quality, state or action conveyed by the imagination is called a perceptual noun.)
